Bars in Málaga

Picas Bar Tapas is one of the bars in Málaga’s old town, on Plaza de la Merced, with a terrace on the square, open daily from 09:00 to midnight. A glass of sangria costs €6.50 and a jug €16.50, a caña €3 and a vermouth from Málaga €3; cocktails cost €6 to €8.

Sangria is what guests mention most in their reviews. There are five kinds, by the glass from €5.50 and by the jug from €14.50. A caña, the small draught beer our menu lists as a half pint, costs €3 and a pint €5.50; a Vermut de Málaga is €3. One jug is the easy order for a table on the terrace, with something fried to go with it.

What’s good for a quick drink and a bite?

Sangria, above all: it’s what guests mention most in their reviews. Just stopping for a drink and a bite? A glass of sangria is €6.50 (a jug for the table, €16.50), a mojito €7, and the fried-fish tapas €7 each, squid and boquerones (fresh anchovies) among them.

Is there alcohol-free sangria?

Yes. Alcohol-free sangria is on the drinks list at €5.50 a glass or €14.50 a jug, so the whole table can share one. The sangria with alcohol is €6.50 a glass and €16.50 a jug, and there’s also white, Málaga-style and cava sangria. Soft drinks, water and fresh orange juice are on the list too.

How much is a pint of beer in Málaga?

At Picas Bar Tapas, on Plaza de la Merced, a pint of draught beer costs €5.50 and a caña, which our menu lists as a half pint, €3. There are also 15 bottles from €4, including an alcohol-free lager, a beer labelled gluten-free and two ciders. We can only speak for our own list.

What drink is Málaga famous for?

Two drinks on our list carry the city’s name: Moscatel de Málaga, the local sweet wine, and Vermut de Málaga, a vermouth from Málaga. Each costs €3. By the glass there’s also red, white and rosé from €3.50, Rioja at €4.50 and Ribera at €4; bottles start at €19.
